I have been a teacher for more than 30 years and I am proud to say that I have taught every grade from Kindergarten through twelfth! I graduated from University of California at Irvine with a BA in Social Science with Cognates in Language Acquisition and Child Development. I studied Science extensively so I also have minors in Biology and Chemistry. I stayed at UCI to get my Elementary Teaching Credential. I was fortunate to work at a Eagle Rock Montessori School where I was Montessori trained. I was part of the elementary level team there for three years. After moving to the Bay area, I taught GATE and Science Resource for five years. I went back to school at University of California at Berkeley and got my Secondary Credential in Biology. I taught Science for fifteen years at Castro Valley High School, was named a District Mentor Teacher and Teacher of the Year before retiring. I returned to work as the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at a non profit private school for three years before deciding to return to teaching. I am thrilled to now be a part of DMCS. A motto I like to live by is " semper discens" which is Latin for "always learning". I am constantly amazed by how much I learn from my students, colleagues, friends and family every day.
